Specific role in the project

The group will be in charge of the in vitro assessment of the biological activity of new formulations of antitrypanosomal drugs and its toxicity in mammalian cells. Whole cell-based screening procedures will be utilized.

Expertise relevant to the proposed work

The Trypanosomatidae team of the Laboratory of Parasitology of Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Barcelona has an extended experience in the eco-epidemiology, diagnosis and therapy studies of leishmaniasis and Chagas disease.



Profile of key personnel

Teresa Vinuesa MD PhD, Associate professor of Microbiology at the Dept. of Pathology and Experimental Therapeutics. Research of Dr. Vinuesa focuses mainly on Antimicrobials, mechanisms of action and resistance both in Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic organisms.
